Setting and sticking to a routine is challenging, I won't deny that. I'm not going to share a "5 AM Morning Routine to be RICH" in this article. Instead, I'll provide you with a simple routine that you just have to follow. The hard part is actually sticking to it. However, the results are definitely worth the effort of establishing a solid morning routine.
You might be wondering why people have routines. Well, whether you realize it or not, everyone has one. It's what you do on a daily basis! Like habits, routines become subconscious over time and set the tone for your life. The only difference is that developing a new morning routine requires determination and dealing with the challenging aspects. I won't bore you with a pros and cons list because the benefits of waking up earlier to have more time in your day are obvious, while the downside is, of course, sacrificing sleep. The main thing to keep in mind is your "why." Why do you want to wake up earlier? Are you naturally an early bird? What is it that you want to get out of implementing a better routine? If your first answer isn't to have more time for yourself before you do anything else, then it should be. Answering these questions will guide you as you move forward with the solid routine that will help you achieve your goals.
To begin, you should mentally prepare yourself. By that, I mean making sure you have some breakfast pre-made if you're usually very hungry in the mornings, preparing your clothes for the day, and getting all the tasks you need to accomplish in order. Have everything ready for the new day ahead. Once you've done that, the rest is up to you to apply and progress every day. Remember, not every day will be perfect, but you still have the power to decide whether you want to have a good day or not. So why not make that decision bright and early before your day even starts? Do you understand why successful people have a healthy morning routine? (They might wake up at 5 am, but we have to start slow. Baby steps.) Some days will be easier than others but as long as you are consistent every day, you will see the results you want.
Make sure to set your morning alarms. Times and tasks listed in this article should be adjusted based on your schedule.
8 AM: Take your time waking up. It will take a few minutes to fully wake up on the first day of this new system. Set your first alarm at least 30 minutes prior to the time you need to be up and ready. The best thing you can do once you wake up is go to the bathroom and wash your face. It helps remove sleepiness, and the cold water and brushing your teeth will awaken your senses.
8:15 AM: Move your body. I mean, move, move that body! You can even go back to your bed, but make sure it's fully made, comforter and all. Do some light stretches and focus on your breathing. Don't reach for any technology just yet. Engage in movements that feel comfortable for you. If you plan to have an early morning workout, you can adjust the schedule in this routine according to your preference.
8:30 AM: Set your intention for your day. By this, I mean grab a journal, a piece of paper, or your phone and answer these three questions:
What three things am I grateful for?
What three things can I work on for myself today?
What three things do I love about myself? Once you've answered, write down your thoughts. Let your mind flow. Even if it's just a couple of sentences, taking the time to listen to your body and soul is crucial. The top 1% of successful people in the world do this every day.
What is one word I will take with me today? Here are a couple of examples: love, patience, discipline, positive energy, kindness, optimism, etc.
9:00 AM: Be empowered. Put on an upbeat manifestation playlist or listen to a podcast as you get ready for the day. Put on your clothes and show up as the person you aspire to be. Empower yourself with some form of knowledge. Use that content to help motivate you to work on the three things you identified earlier.
Within just one hour, you have set the tone for your day and are ready to tackle your tasks!
*Depending on when you have breakfast, you can adjust the schedule accordingly.
This routine is best suited for those who need a fresh start to their day. In this day and age, we are often glued to technology, unknowingly straining our eyes and minds. So instead of reaching for your phone right away, I encourage you to dedicate the first hour of your day to yourself, your faith, or anything else that will push you to become the most successful and happy person you can be. Always remember that forming new habits and systems takes time to get used to. If you stumble on the first day, remember that you have more days to try again. Just never give up.
